Dark Mode
MacOS Design Review
Enabling Dark Mode is clearly supposed to trigger a slick, smooth animation as all your windows gracefully fade to black. It’d look great. There was a time when Apple would have been sure to pull it off. But as implemented in Mojave, what happens is that some windows fade gracefully as intended, and then the remaining ones pop jankily to black one by one. These aren’t third-party Qt apps. They’re built-in Apple ones. It’s a half-baked implementation. Somebody gave it a go, hit a hard problem, then said “meh, good enough” and checked it in. Then, Apple management said “meh, good enough” and shipped it.

It’s not a disaster. But it falls short of the standard Apple used to hold themselves to.
